Prof. Dr. İbrahim Dinçer

ONTARIO TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Ibrahim Dincer is a full professor of Mechanical Engineering at Ontario Tech. University and an adjunct professor at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Yildiz Technical University. Renowned for his pioneering works in the area of sustainable energy technologies he has authored/co-authored numerous books and book chapters, and many refereed journal and conference papers. He has chaired many national and international conferences, symposia, workshops and technical meetings. He has delivered many keynote and invited lectures. He is an active member of various international scientific organizations and societies, and serves as editor-in-chief, associate editor, regional editor, and editorial board member on various prestigious international journals. He is a recipient of several research, teaching and service awards, including the Premier’s research excellence award in Ontario, Canada. During the past six years he has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of The Most Influential Scientific Minds in Engineering and one of the most highly cited researchers.

Prof. Hussam Jouhara

Brunel University London/ UK

Prof. Jouhara is a Full Professor at Brunel University of London and a Fellow the Royal Academy of Engineering (raeng.org.uk). Prof. Jouhara obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK in 2004 and has a career in both the Industry and Academia since then. He is a Chair of Thermofluids at Brunel and the founder and head of the Heat Pipe and Thermal Management Research Group and the Principal Investigator of many national and international projects in the areas of multiphase heat transfer and fluid dynamics, energy efficiency, renewable energy systems and innovative thermal management systems for electronics, nuclear and biomedical applications. Throughout his academic and industrial career, Prof Jouhara received over £16M in direct grants fundings from the Industry, EPSRC, Innovate UK, EU, Royal Academy of Engineering and UK Atomic Energy Authority. His patents have been adopted and implemented by various multi-national companies such as S&P Coils Products Limited, Econotherm (UK) Limited, Flint Engineering Limited, Spirax Sarco PLC, Solex Thermal Science and Air Products PLC that funds many of Prof. Jouhara’s projects directly. Professor Jouhara’s research has been published in over 200 journal articles and over 300 other publications such as conference papers, keynote lectures and editorials. He has also published many books  and his latest books are entitled: Heat Pipes, Sustainable Energy Technology, Business Models, and Policies and Waste Heat Recovery in Process Industries . Prof. Jouhara is the editor-in-chief of the Elsevier International Journal of Thermofluids and Science Talks, Co-Editor of Thermal Science and Engineering Progress and an Editor of the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer in addition to serving on the editorial boards of many other Elsevier journals. His innovative design methods have led to applications of the heat pipe technology in over 32 countries, and many granted international patents. The development of heat pipe heat exchangers, produced by Prof. Jouhara, has been applied in many industries, from high temperature processes such as recovering waste heat from ceramics, steel industry, food processing, solar PV thermal management and thermal energy storage using PCMs. Recent major projects that deal with the development of water and heat recovery systems include the GeoFlexHeat, which is he coordinates and the  iWAYS of which he is the scientific and technical director of.  Professor Jouhara was also the technical coordinator of many other H2020 projects such as: ETEKINA and the PI for others such as: INCOMESS, Cultural-E and DREAM. Professor Jouhara is a chartered Engineer and Fellow in both the UK (IMechE) and Ireland (Engineers Ireland) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering (CIBSE). He is also a member of the institute of Refrigeration and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK (SFHEA).

Prof. Neven Duić

University of Zagreb / CROTIA

Neven Duić was born in Zagreb, where he attended primary school and the “MIOC” secondary school (now known as the XV Gymnasium). He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Zagreb and also completed two years of Portuguese language studies at the university’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in 1990, earned his PhD in 1998, and became a full professor at the Chair of Power Engineering and Energy Management within the Department of Energy, Power, and Environmental Engineering in 2011. Between 1994 and 2003, he served as a visiting researcher and postdoctoral fellow at the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal, on six separate occasions.

According to data compiled by researchers from Stanford University using the Scopus database, Duić ranks among the top 2% of the world’s most-cited scientists for the years 2020 and 2021. His prolific research output includes over 650 scientific papers, with 178 published in journals listed in the Science Citation Index Expanded. He has more than 6,500 citations on Scopus and over 6,400 on Web of Science (WoS), with an H-index of 45 and 46 respectively.

Duić has delivered more than 170 invited and keynote speeches. He has been involved in over 100 scientific and professional projects, the majority of which are international. His expertise spans several critical fields, including energy policy and planning, energy economics, sustainable development policy and resource planning, climate change mitigation, combustion engineering and modeling, and research and innovation policy. In addition to his academic work, he is an active figure in the media, frequently participating in roundtables, public lectures, and various radio and television programs.

Prof. Dr. Arif Hepbaşlı

Energy Systems Engineering – Yaşar University

Dr. Hepbaşlı was born in İzmir in 1958 and has been involved in energy-related fields for 43 years. He spent 10 of these years working in İzmir’s industrial sector and the remainder in various universities both domestically and internationally. Since 2012, he has been serving as a faculty member in the Energy Systems Engineering Department at Yaşar University.

Dr. Hepbaşlı focuses on integrating Industry (I), Professional Organizations (P), and Academia (A)—a concept he refers to as IPA (currently evolving into Research, Innovation, and Commercialization; RIC)—in a balanced and synergistic manner.

He has authored or co-authored over 675 scientific publications, with more than 335 indexed in SCI. As of August 11, 2024, his academic footprint in the Web of Science (WOS) includes an h-index of 70 with 14,527 citations (excluding self-citations). In Google Scholar, his h-index is 92 with 27,475 citations, and in Scopus, his h-index is 75 with 18,010 citations.

Dr. Hepbaşlı has played a significant role in organizing numerous national and international scientific events. He serves on the International Advisory Boards of seven prestigious journals and is an Associate Editor for one international journal. Additionally, he actively reviews for various national and international journals and projects related to energy.

He holds memberships in several professional organizations on both national and international levels and has been providing consultancy services to the industry for many years within his areas of interest.

Since February 16, 2017, Dr. Hepbaşlı has been a member of the Energy Working Group of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and was elected as a Full Member of TÜBA in 2019.

Dr. Hepbaşlı is also a Certified Energy Manager and is proficient in English, German, and Japanese (Basic Level II).

Prof. Fares Al-Momani

Bio Dr. Fares Almomani joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering of Qatar University as Associate Professor on August 2014. Dr. Fares received his Ph.D in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Barcelona University, Spain in 2003. After his Ph.D., he became a Postdoctoral fellow in the University of Alberta in 2003 working on advanced wastewater treatment technologies. He then worked at Mutah University, Jordan from 2004-2011 as an assistant and associate professor. In 2011 Dr. Almomani moved to Canada and worked at University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Dr. Almomani’s research experiences involve Advanced Oxidation Technologies, developing a novel approach to measure the kinetics of ozonation reaction, Fundamental application of biofilms technology in wastewater treatment, developing an in-line and real-time method to measure polymer concentrations in water and wastewater treatment processes, use of microalgae as advanced wastewater treatment.
